After selling one million 4G phones under the A series in India, Lenovo has recently launched its latest 4G-enabled smartphone called K3 Note in the country. Similar to the brand’s previous devices, the K3 Note also joins the brigade of affordable 4G LTE-enabled smartphones in India. Since the competition in this segment in the country is on the rise, Lenovo will find it hard to repeat the success of A-series with the K3 Note.

Design wise, the K3 Note is one of the classy-looking smartphones from Lenovo till date. The phone measures pretty slim 8mm around the waist. The device is also lightweight at just 150grams. The ASUS Zenfone 2 on the other hand offers an ergonomic arc design with sleek edges. It is made out of plastic, but has a metal touch right below the display. The Zenfone 2 is thicker than the K3 Note with a 10.9mm waistline, but is quite slim around the edges at 3.5mm. The phone is a bit heavier at 170grams.

Display and OS

The Lenovo K3 Note and ASUS Zenfone 2, both the smartphones offer large 5.5-inch displays. However, the K3 Note offers a full HD screen panel with a pixel density of 401ppi, while the Zenfone 2 only offers HD resolution display bearing a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch. On the software front, both the devices run Android Lollipop out of the box with a layer of custom UI of their respective brands.


The ASUS Zenfone 2 is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor, coupled with a PowerVR G6430 GPU. The K3 Note utilises a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset, aided by a Mali T760 MP2. Both the smartphones are equipped with 2GB of RAM 16GB of internal memory. The K3 Note can take microSD cards up to 32GB. However, the Zenfone 2 allows the users to expand the storage up to a whopping 64GB.


There’s no difference in the camera features of the Lenovo K3 Note and ASUS Zenfone 2. Both the smartphones have 13-megapixel autofocus primary cameras with dual-LED flash. For selfies and video calling, they offers 5-megapixel secondary shooters. These also offer full HD video recording, Face Detection, Geo Tagging, High Dynamic Range mode, and touch to focus.

Connectivity and Battery

The Lenovo K3 Note and ASUS Zenfone 2, both offer similar connectivity and battery features. They have dual-SIM slots, support for Indian 4G LTE bands, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and micro-USB 2.0. Both are powered by beefy 3,000mAh batteries. However, the full HD resolution display on the K3 Note kills some extra battery.


The Lenovo K3 Note and ASUS Zenfone 2, both are affordable 4G LTE-enabled Android phablets in India. Both offer large displays, great configuration, latest software features, decent camera specifications, and large batteries. Though, the K3 Note has an upper hand over the Zenfone 2 as it has full HD screen panel, an octa-core SoC, and offers a slimmer body. Coming to the prices, the ASUS Zenfone 2 is being offered openly on Flipkart for Rs 12,999.
